3/14/11 – Lord, Please forgive me for being so weak in the flesh last week. I lost hold on the big picture which is glorifying you! Every task I can do for you and your Kingdom is a blessing and an honor. Help me to stay focused on you this week. I love You and praise You. Thank you for my life.

I wrote this prayer in my journal at my weakest point during the renovation of our new building. I was just plain grumpy, tired, and selfish for a few days. I wanted my weekends back and I didn’t want to eat Mexican or Sonic again for a really, really long time. You ever have one of those moments where you feel sorry for anyone who comes in contact with you because at that moment your bad mood super cedes everything else. That was me.
There is a book by Rueben P. Job titled Three Simple Rules. It’s an awesome little book. The rules really are pretty simple:

1. Do no harm
2. Do good
3. Stay in love with God

Psalm 105:4 says, “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.”  For me, when I lose sight of #3 (staying in love with God), I have a tendency to” do lots of harm” and “no good”. It’s that commitment to study his Word and spend time with Him in prayer that keeps me in love. And when I am in love with God, I am in love with His people and with the work that he gives me to do.  God is in LOVE with you! And its unconditional love – no matter what you have done in the past, no matter how long you stay away, God will love you and will continue to love you.  I can’t tell you how many times I lose sight of this truth. And every time I do the devil enters in and hits me with offense, depression, anger, and bitterness. We have to seek God’s face always so that we are continually reminded of the love He has for us.

We have only so much time in this life to learn what we can about our Maker before we go and meet our Maker. I know we will stand in awe for eternity when God is revealed, but I want to stand in awe – in love with God now. Don’t you? Learn his Word and I promise you will fall in love. The things of this world will fall away. Stay in his Word and I promise it will be easier to love others and do the work He has set aside for YOU to do.

I pray this week that you understand the full weight of God’s love for you and that God does an awesome work in your life!
